Fire Restoration
Fire and smoke damage can consist of either structural damage and/or content damage. The first step is to preserve, protect and secure the structure and the contents from further damage. This includes boarding up the structure, initial cleaning of any metal, plastic or light colored furnishings or fixtures that might stain or corrode.
Depending on the severity of the smoke damage and the structural damage, the contents may be cleaning on site or may have to be removed to our shop to be ozoned, cleaned and stored until the structural damage has been repaired. Next we remove any of the structure that may need to be replaced due to the fire damage or water damage from putting out the fire. The demolition may include any damage to the ceilings, walls and flooring. Depending on the location of the fire: the electrical may be affect, floor joists, rafters and shingle on exterior. Once the demo has been complete the cleaning can be started. The cleaning route should start from ceiling to floor and from interior to exterior. Thermo fogging or ozoning to eliminate the smoke odour may be required. A product called Smoke Seal may be used on any exposed joists or walls so ensure elimination of any odour.
Our experience trades people then start the process of restoring the building back to its original state. This includes painting; replace any flooring and cabinets and finishing work such as baseboards and casings. At this time the contents are ready to be brought back.
